Cardiac diease is one of the leading cause morbidity and mortality in this country. Hence the need to develop comprehensive cardiac diagnostic facilities for our population.
Type of services:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) - a test in which several electronic sensors are place on the body to monitor electrical activity associated with the heart beat. This is an important test to diagnosis heart attack or heart beat problems.
- Enhocardiogram (ECHO) - a method of studying the heart's structure and function by analyzing sound waves reflected from the heart and recorded by an electronic sensor placed on the chest.
- Trans-Esophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) - is a test that analyzes sound waves reflected from the heart. The sound waves are sent through a tube-like device inserted in the mouth and passed down the esophagus (food pipe) which ends behind the heart.
- Stress Test - This test helps doctors assess blood flow to heart, though coronary arteries in response to exercise, usually walking, at varied speeds and for various lengths of time on treadmill. Also called exercise test or treadmill test.
- Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram - is a test that helps to diagnose heart diease with the help of ultrasound images or an E.C.H.O. Medication (Dobutamine) is used to increase the heart rate and show how the heart works under stress.
- 24 hour Holter Monitering - a portable device for recording heartbeats over a period of 24 hours or more to diagnose heart beat problem. It is for both In and Out patient who having a frequent palputation.
- 24 h ours Blood Pressure Monitering - a device that is portable and attach to the patient body for recording the patient blood pressure over a period of 24 hours or more. Helpful in monitering the control of blood pressure and adequacy of treatment.
- Trans-telephonic ECG monitering - a tras-telephonic monitor sends the ECG signals from the patient to a reciever at the cardiac centre using telephone. This test is useful in diagnosing heart beat problems.
- Tilt Table Test, an autonomic system - this test can help determine the cause of fainting. During this procedure, blood pressure and heart rate are monitored at first lying down on a table, then the table is position. This procedure only took around 10 minutes where the patient will be given a Carative Massage where at the same time, the patient Blood pressure, ECG and Heart rate is being moniter carefuly.
- 6 Minutes walking test - this test is person's walking capasity over a 6 minute period. This is another test to assess the physical fitness of the caridac patient.
- Pacemaker Implantation and follow up - pacemaker is a surgically implanted electronic device that helps regulate the heartbeat, usually this type of procedure is done in the CCU (Critical Care Unit) & in the Radiology department.
- Event Loop Recorder Implantation - a surgically implanted electronic device that records heart beat for a year or more.Useful in diagnoseing heart beat problems.
- Clinical Consultation with Cardiologist - an appointment with Cardiologist as a review in a certain area such as the CCU, Cardiac Clinic, Referral Clinic etc.
- Cardiac Screening Program which includes Executive Screening and Family Screening - this is to screen for heart beat diease in high risk group patients for early detection of heart disease; to reduce cardiac morbidity; and to save lives.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Program - sum of activities and interventions required to ensure the best possible physical, mental and social conditions that patients with chronic or post-acute cardiovascular diease may, by their own effort, preserve or resume their proper place in surgery & lead an active life. This Rehabilitation centre is located at the Sport Complex, next to the R.I.P.A.S Hospital.
