Small amount of students for Nursing and Midwifery?

INTAKE FOR NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

Again on the issue of Nursing and Midwifery in UBD. The proposal was for Nursing College to be upgraded to either an Institute OR a Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery in UBD. NOT to be squashed into the Institute of Medicine.

It's not practical and also totally inappropriate. There should be total Autonomy on the running of the nursing programmes and MUST meet most and foremost the LOCAL requirement which means based on the MIB as according to TITAH should be implemented in the programes. But somehow that doesn't seem to be the direction now because the courses seemed to have been shortened!!!!!

By the way why only 20 + - participants for the Diploma Nursing whilst only THREE (3) Diploma in Midwifery. There are already 2000 = TRAINED LOCALLY AND ARE PRACTISING IN BRUNEI'S HEALTH CENTRES ARE YOU QUESTIONING THE CREDIBILTY of their qualifications? Remember they were also externally examined by overseas Professors!!

Haven't the authority or relevant admins realize that there will be attrition and do you think the numbers will be able to accommodate the staffing level of the expanding health services in years to come!!!!!! These mistakes were rectified by people before but unfortunately many of those responsible for the future of caring for those in need seemed to have been overlooked and I am sure now being appreciated because suddenly you need Nurses and Midwives. They can't just be processed on a conveyor belt.

If you want Quality and Standard those responsible should know the MEANING of the word Not just squaring your shoulders in a threatening manner and shove everybody else aside to accommodate your personal egos.
